The National Music Museum on the campus of the University of South Dakota houses more than 15,000 rare musical instruments. It has been called a "National Treasure" for its excellence in preservation and eclectic holdings. There are masterpieces by Stradivari, the world's oldest cello, saxophones created by Adolphe Sax, and iconic guitars from Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and B.B. King. It is open year-round, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Saturday (during the summer, it is also open 1-5 p.m. on Sundays).
