Enhance Your Rushmore Experience: The Rushmore Borglum Story
PIERRE, S.D. – If there was a way to make a trip to Mount Rushmore even more memorable, the Rushmore Borglum Story would be it.
This exciting tour opens the doors to the world of Gutzon Borglum, the sculptor of Mount Rushmore.
“The Rushmore Borglum Collection was preserved and displayed beginning in 1978 when there was absolutely no interest from the community in preserving this history,” said Duane Pankratz, co-owner, Rushmore Borglum Story. “Today, others have realized the visitor experience is enhanced by giving them more information and exhibits. Thus emphasis is being placed on this part of the interpretation at Mount Rushmore itself.”
The Rushmore Borglum Story provides visitors with the opportunity to meet the artist, his family and the famous people who were his friends. You can enjoy an exclusive film, narrated by Senator Tom Daschle, which takes you back in time to view the carving of the monument or view the many additional sculptures done by Gutzon Borglum himself.
“Without a doubt, the life size ‘Seated Lincoln’ sculpture outside the museum is one of the most popular among visitors,” stated Pankratz. “The Bronze Patina on Lincoln’s knee is shiny from people sitting on it.”
This is truly an exciting, entertaining and informative tour for the whole family. Visit the Rushmore Borglum museum to get the full Mount Rushmore experience.
