Located in Rapid City, Dinosaur Park is one of the area’s original tourist attractions. It sits on a ridge of sandstone that encircles the Black Hills. Along this ridge, dinosaurs of the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous have been found. View the seven life-sized, concrete replicas of monstrous prehistoric reptiles that inhabit the park. This free park is open 5 a.m.-10 p.m., daily. There is also a visitor center, gift shop and snack bar, including ice cream, Slush Puppies, hotdogs and more. The visitor center/gift shop hours of operation are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., May and September; 8 a.m.-8 p.m., June and July; and 8 a.m.-6 p.m., August.
