Owners Rick and Dawn Tilson look forward to making your stay a memorable experience. Only one mile from Badlands National Park, we are the closest full-service campground. Amenities include a restaurant, store, swimming pool, fire pits, free Wi-Fi and everything from tent to full-hookup pull-through sites. We also have a 22-unit motel: Badlands Interior Budget Host.
This striking landscape in southwestern South Dakota boasts a maze of buttes, canyons, pinnacles and spires. Skeletons of three-toed horses and saber-toothed cats are among the many fossilized species found here. Wildlife abounds in the park's 244,000 acres and can often be seen while hiking, camping and traveling the 39-mile Badlands Loop Scenic Byway.
Established in 2000, the Badlands Observatory is a private facility for research, education and stargazing located in the small community of Quinn. For more than 10 years, owner Ron Dyvig contributed data to the Minor Planet Center in support of their mapping project for Near Earth Objects. In later years, the Observatory primarily provided telescope time to institutions and students. Since 2019, Ron and partner Teresa have been upgrading the facility and fine-tuning their programming in order to create a favorable experience for visitors, including daytime tours and night sky programs. Guided tours are available daily. Daytime tours are provided by reservation
only, and may be made by phone or email. Daytime tours can start as early as 9
a.m. and as late as 1 p.m. They last approximately 1.5 hours. The cost is $10
per person, 10 years and older. Night tours vary with the phase of the moon,
sunset times and sky conditions, and cost $29.70 per person, 10 years and older.

We continue to uphold this promise by making sure that every dish that leaves our kitchen is the best it can be. Our menu features both authentic and familiar dishes using family recipes, along with one-of-a-kind creations served breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are open 7 a.m.-11 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
Badlands Trading Post, just off Interstate 90 at Exit 131, is proud to be located between two National Parks - Badlands National Park and Minuteman Missile National Historic Site - in South Dakota. We are truly where the 'west still lives'. We offer gasoline; a unique western shop with souvenirs and gifts, including mugs, magnets, knives, T-shirts, jewelry and much more; fast food, including the only buffalo hot dog at Cactus Flat; and, of course, ice cream. Don't miss this unique stop.
Baker’s Bakery & Cafe in Custer is a modern day “Hash House” that serves the #1 breakfast in South Dakota - according to Everyday with Rachel Ray Magazine (March 2014 issue). We have a full breakfast and lunch menu as well as fresh pastries, donuts and espresso bar. Everything is served on or with homemade bread. Beer and wine are also available. There are three dining rooms that seat approximately 100 people. We are open daily, 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
BakeWorks serves up the opportunity for people with disabilities to learn food preparation and customer service skills in a real-life work setting. From baking pastries and decorating cupcakes to preparing sandwiches and coffee, every aspect is an opportunity for our employees to grow while also providing our customers with delicious products and the best smiles in Rapid City. We are open 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Monday and Friday; 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday; and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday.
