Nestled among eight connecting glacial lakes northwest of Brookings, Oakwood Lakes State Park provides a never-ending variety of activities throughout the year, from hiking and swimming, to ice fishing and cross-country skiing. The Oglala Lakota Artspace (OLA) is an arts facility on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Kyle in southwestern South Dakota. The Native-run program is administered by Oglala Lakota Artspace LLC, a partnership between Artspace, Lakota Funds, and First Peoples Fund. The facility provides a collaborative and intergenerational environment for artists to learn, share, and grow their businesses. Oglala Lakota Artspace LLC partners with local artists and Rolling Rez Arts to offer artistic, business, and financial services to Native artists across the Pine Ridge Reservation. It includes artist studios, a recording studio, classroom space, outdoor market space, community gathering space and a performance space. Make time for history at the Old Courthouse Museum in downtown Sioux Falls. This beautifully-restored 1800s quartzite building has three floors of regional history exhibits. The Old Courthouse Museum is a Siouxland Heritage Museum (along with the Pettigrew Home and Museum). We are open seven days a week and our hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday and Friday; 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Thursday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday; and 12-5 p.m., Sunday. Fort Meade was a military post from 1878 until 1944. Originally established to protect miners and settlers traveling in the area, it played a major role in maintaining peace on the western Dakota frontier. Today, the Old Fort Meade Museum, on the grounds of the Veterans Administration Hospital just east of Sturgis, is located in the former commanding officer's headquarters and offers an in-depth history of Fort Meade. The museum is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, mid-May to the end of September.Old Lumber Company Grill and Bar
