Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeo
Celebrating nearly 70 years of the Jackrabbit Stampede, this two-day event is a National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association approved rodeo featuring events such as Bareback Riding, Breakaway Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Goat Tying, Team Roping, Barrel Racing and Bull Riding. The South Dakota State University Rodeo Club helps produce the SDSU Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeo. It takes place at the Dacotah Bank Center in Brookings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. See website for more details and admission information.Party for the Planet

Celebrate Oktoberfest on board the 1880 Train. On Saturday, September 28, the 1880 Train will hold its annual Oktoberfest Express. Prior to departure, enjoy snacks, beer and yard games 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. On board, passengers enjoy authentic seasonal beer along with traditional German foods. The train departs from the Hill City station at 2:30 p.m. and the round-trip ride takes about two hours. This is your chance to enjoy a memorable experience on the 1880 Train during our Wine Express. Ticket price includes food, wine, train ride, keepsake wine glass, and live entertainment (starting at 1:30 at the Hill City station). Departures are Saturday, September 7, at 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The Train departs from the Hill City station and the round-trip ride takes approximately two hours.
