With a long and storied agricultural history, it’s no surprise that South Dakota knows how to have some nature-made fun. 27455 SD Highway 11, Harrisburg
Only in South Dakota can you leave the state’s biggest city (Sioux Falls) and be in a corn maze 10 minutes later. At Heartland Country Corn Maze, guests get a maze map and a list of questions that are answered by finding 10 checkpoints throughout the maze. Find the hidden checkpoint and get a free treat from the Concession Barn!
Hours: Open Aug. 7 – Oct. 25 every Friday (5 p.m. to 9 p.m.), Saturday (noon to 9 p.m.) and Sunday (noon to 5 p.m.).

Only seven miles west of Yankton is a place truly “mazing.” Mazing Acres Pumpkin Patch features a 5-acre corn maze as well pumpkins and gourds available for purchase. Can you take a wagon ride to the patch in order to find your perfect pumpkin? You sure can.
Hours: Open Sept. 11 through Oct. 31 on Fridays (2 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and Saturdays & Sundays (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Where do Yogi and Boo Boo have some fun after finishing off a pic-a-nic basket? A corn maze, of course! More than seven acres of carefully created twists and turns make for fun that even Ranger Smith himself couldn’t resist. Plus, corn maze admission includes access to the resort’s jumping pillow, mini golf course, and playground. You can also add on perks like pedal/golf cart rental, mini golf, an indoor theater, and heated swimming pool & spa. Don’t be surprised if you see Yogi and his friends!
Hours: Open from Aug. 28 until late October on Friday (5 p.m. to 9 p.m.), Saturday (noon to 9 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.)

Just three miles northwest of beautiful Spearfish is the perfect spot for autumn fun. Wander the corn maze before picking out and decorating your perfect pumpkin. There’s also a hay jump, tire climb, duck race, hay slide, barrel train, petting zoo, and more!

If you’re going to go big, go Big Stone. This pumpkin patch features a corn maze as well as hayrides, bale-climbing, barrel train rides, a jumping pillow, and a corn dig. Of course, what would a pumpkin patch be without pumpkins? Purchase pre-picked pumpkins of all sizes as well as gourds, specialty pumpkins, straw bales, Indian corn, straw bales, and corn shocks.
Hours: Open Sept. 21 – October 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

When John Picasso came to this area from Italy in 1905, he probably had no idea his love of gardening would become a five-generation tradition. Enjoy the family’s horticultural dedication by wandering the corn maze before or after you enjoy a hayride and do some serious pumpkin shopping.
