Mountain bike riders who enjoy their single tracks with a view will appreciate the new-in-2020 Oahe West Shore Mountain Bike Trails just north of Fort Pierre.  Oahe Dam forms the 231-mile Lake Oahe on the Missouri River, and these four miles of trails offer spectacular views of the lake. Ratings on the trail range from easy to moderate with some steep hills in the 180 feet of elevation change. The trails are specifically meant for bicycles, but hiking is permitted.

For more information about the West Shore Trails and bicycling in central South Dakota, check with the Oahe Wheelmen Cycling Club. Enjoy the ride!
