Buffalo, Wind Cave National Park

WILDLIFE OF WIND CAVE

With a name like Wind Cave National Park – one of South Dakota's "Great 8" – some are surprised that it is also a wildlife refuge. American bison, prairie dogs, pronghorn, deer, elk and more roam the 33,970 acres in the park above the cave itself. Animal lovers know this area in southwestern South Dakota as a prime spot to encounter critters any time of the year.
