Lead Area Chamber of Commerce

Born from the same gold rush that created nearby Deadwood, Lead now is where the search for gold has been replaced with a quest for science. Visitors can learn more about both at the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center. Not only can they see the legendary 1,000-foot-deep Homestake Open Cut, they can even hit a golf ball into it.
