Or book a tee time at a privately owned golf course. With a 4-star Golf Digest rating, Willow Run Golf Course combines gorgeous scenery with exceptional challenges for golfers at every level. Set in a quiet neighborhood 3 miles south of Sioux Falls, Bakker Crossing Golf Course offers an unbeatable combination of great golf and friendly people. Rapid City Golf Courses

Rapid City golf courses (some revered by Golfweek Magazine and Golf Digest) tee up a value-add to your vacation. Considered the “Gateway to the Black Hills,” Rapid City is a great destination to pair a golf game with a trip to Mount Rushmore. Popular courses include the Golf Club at Red Rock, Hart Ranch and Meadowbrook Golf Course. Arrowhead Country Club, and Rapid City Elks Golf Course.

Deadwood Golf Courses

Pairing a Deadwood stay with golf is a sure bet, in our opinion. Tomahawk Lake Country Club is a picturesque 9-hole, par-36, course located just seven miles south of Historic Deadwood. (Deadwood Gulch Gaming Resort offers a golf vacation package with access to play here). Elkhorn Ridge on the historic Frawley Ranch is a planned community offering two housing developments, a Championship 18-hole golf course, and a camping resort. Lead Country Club is a 9-hole option about 20 minutes outside Deadwood.

Golfing in the Missouri River Region: Pierre & Chamberlain

Fish in the morning, golf in the afternoon. It’s possible in Pierre, where two 18-hole golf courses — Dunes Golf Course and Hillsview Municipal Golf Course — hug the Missouri River. Golfers consider the Chamberlain Country Club a great little club with fantastic facilities, well-kept greens and 18 holes. If 9 holes is more your speed, head to the nearby Lake Platte Golf Club.

Golfing in the Glacial Lakes & Prairies Region: Aberdeen, Watertown & Sisseton

There are three golf courses in Aberdeen: Lee Park Golf Course, Moccasin Creek Country Club and Rolling Hills Golf Club. Sisseton offers a 9-hole golf course, Valley View Country Club. Head to Watertown to golf at Cattail Crossing, the recently renovated 27-hole, family-friendly golf club on Lake Kampeska.
