Interstate Welcome Centers
South Dakota's Interstate Welcome Centers along Interstate 90 (east/west) and Interstate 29 (north/south) are great places to rest or stretch your legs, but they offer so much more to travelers than that. You can speak with a travel counselor, pick up brochures, connect to Wi-Fi and find up-to-date road and weather information.
For the 2026 Season
All five Interstate Welcome Centers will be open to the public starting Monday, May 18, and will remain open seven days per week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Wilmot, Valley Springs, Vermillion and Spearfish locations close for the season on Sunday, September 27. The Chamberlain location will remain open through Sunday, October 18.
Restroom facilities are available even when these Welcome Centers are not staffed (approximately October through April).
Travel Counselors
From mid-May through September, a crew of more than 40 travel counselors staff the five Interstate Welcome Centers. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, these ambassadors will greet you with a smile and answers for all of your travel questions.
