There are many steps involved in the handcrafting of a single delicate Black Hills Gold jewelry design. Take a fascinating free tour through our Black Hills Gold jewelry factory to watch and learn how our gold jewelry is made by our skilled artisans. See the ancient process of lost-wax casting and how diamonds are cast in molten gold. Complimentary coffee and cookies for tour members are available. Please call to discuss and arrange details. The 90-minutes tours are only available on weekdays.

BronzeAge Art Casting

You make the art or object, we replicate it in bronze. BronzeAge Art Casting is a full-service art foundry in Sioux Falls. We offer bronze, brass, aluminum and iron casting services to artists, architects, designers, communities and individuals throughout the Midwest. We also do sculpture repair and restoration, custom metal work, and fabrication and welding, as well as offer special events and workshops throughout the year. We are open 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Dakota Plains Gallery & Gifts

The Dakota Plains Gallery & Gifts in downtown Chamberlain provides a venue for artists to showcase and market their work. The gallery also features artists who provide gallery talks, cultural classes, storytelling and author signings. The Dakota Indian Foundation is a non-profit organization that created the Dakota Plains Gallery for the purpose of promoting economic development for local tribal artists. Every purchase is a donation toward academic scholarships and grants that preserve Dakota culture. Business hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Dahl's Chainsaw Art - Hill City

Tucked away in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, Jarrett and Jordan Dahl use chainsaws to carve bears, eagles, and other detailed and masterful works of art out of Black Hills pine and other wood. Nothing quite conveys their mastery of the craft, attention to detail, and pure skill like visiting one of the four Dahl's Chainsaw Art galleries in the Black Hills (Hill City, Keystone, Deadwood and Wall). If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a Jarrett or Jordan doing a carving in person. The centerpiece in Hill City is the 30-foot-tall Smokey the Bear statue. In Keystone, it's the World's Largest Wooden Bigfoot Sculpture. Wall features a giant Jackalope.

Dakota Discovery Museum

The Dakota Discovery Museum in Mitchell welcomes cultures from all over the world to a place of imagination. Our inviting environment features numerous historic artifacts from a time when the way of life came from the land itself. Located on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University, the Dakota Discovery Museum provides entertaining and educational benefits to everyone who walks through the door. Our October-April hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. (See our website for summer hours.)

Dakota Emporium Trading Post

At the Dakota Emporium Trading Post, located in Fort Pierre, we offer an extensive selection of beads and regalia supplies for Native dance outfits and jewelry. We also carry informative Native books and DVDs, and Native made jewelry and artwork, including quill and bead work, hides and botanicals. Our hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday.

World's Largest Bigfoot

Created by Jarret Dahl and crew of Dahl's Chainsaw Art, the World's Largest Wooden Bigfoot Sculpture is located at their Keystone location. Carved out of ponderosa pine, cedar and cottonwood using chainsaws, the seated Sasquatch stands 23 feet tall. Completed in 2020 and named "Billie", the sculpture has been recognized by the World Record Academy as the world's largest.

Dahl Arts Center

The Dahl Arts Center, located in Downtown Rapid City, is a community-owned art space, offering a variety of attractions. It features five curated art galleries, a hands-on Art Studio designed for families, and the Dahl Artists' Market, where art crafted by local and regional artists is available for purchase. Managed by the Rapid City Arts Council, The Dahl is a community space that hosts all kinds of arts and culture events. It also provides art education programs for both youth and adults, along with open pottery and art studios, offering people a welcoming space to unleash their creativity. The Dahl is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Entry to the galleries is always free, with donations warmly welcomed.

Sandy Swallow Gallery

This gallery, owned and operated by Sandy Swallow, is a must-see if interested in Native American art and culture. Featured is a complete line of works by internationally-known artist Sandy Swallow. Also included in the gallery are her notecards, cups, jewelry and designer apparel. Other South Dakota and Native artists display their fine arts, which include pottery, beadwork and crafts. For the tenth year, we are looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
