The DX Ranch

Our family has been ranching in this location for nearly 60 years; and we now have the opportunity to share it with you. At The DX Ranch near Gettysburg, we offer working ranch vacations specifically tailored to those interested in efforts to help our local youth, however no one that has ever visited has left without telling us they can’t wait to come again. There will be a fairly flexible agenda for your time here, and you will be invited to participate in whatever the day might bring. Participation isn’t mandatory, and you can do as little or as much as you like. Those activities will vary based on the time of year; but all will include exposure to the horsemanship principles we practice and how we apply them to each and every activity we engage in on the ranch, and an opportunity for you to gain some hands-on experience.

The Farm

The Farm is a retreat for visitors looking for some peace, quiet and a piece of the country life, if only for a moment. Located near Tripp in southeastern South Dakota, it is a wonderful mix of modern and vintage aesthetics with historical and familial pieces on display. Our farmhouse has three queen beds, one full bed, two twin beds and a twin bunk bed, along with a bathroom upstairs and on the main level (handicap accessible). The kitchen is full service with dinnerware and cookware ready for your use. The barn has a lower level with a kitchen and the expansive hayloft has both interior and exterior stair access. The lower level is a perfect setting for meetings or small events while you may want to use the entire barn for a larger event such as a wedding or reception.

Dennis Ranch

At Dennis Ranch in west central South Dakota is an authentic working cattle ranch, where the land, the livestock and the people are all important. We have had people from all over the world come and stay for anywhere from an afternoon to three weeks. Give us a call if you’d like to come visit. There are always cattle around that need attention. Come with me and we’ll saddle a horse or hook up the team and go do something with them. Lord knows there are lots of horses round here!

Country Cottage Hideaway

The Good Earth Farm

The Good Earth is a working farm just south of Lennox. We use sustainable practices to grow vegetables that are sold through our CSA and farm stand. We educate aspiring growers through our intensive internship program. We take care of animals that are the life of this place. Over the past ten years we have continued to make improvements to the structures that were built by those who came before us. We have four camping sites in the pasture near the creek and one near the homestead in the shelter belt. Our sites will accommodate RVs but do not have electricity, and are first-come, first-served. Head to our farm and meet the animals, walk around, grab a beverage, and enjoy the South Dakota prairie.

Triangle Ranch Bed & Breakfast

Pleasant Valley Farm and Cabins

Pleasant Valley Farm, located southwest of Custer, has been serving the Black Hills since 2004. Hundreds of guests have enjoyed tours of the farm and gained valuable information about sustainable farming. In the past, facilities have limited the farm to only hosting one person or family at
a time, but we now offer vacation rentals, too. We would love to welcome you to enjoy our new farmhouse cabins on 120 acres and experience the best of the Black Hills. We hope your stay will make a lasting impression and we can say to you on your next stay, welcome home.

Blue Tin Ranch

Blue Tin Ranch is a family-owned hunting lodge located in the beautiful Missouri River Valley of southeastern South Dakota. Open year-round for hunting of all types, we are also just two miles from the Missouri River, making fishing trips as easy as can be.
