What is now the 1881 Custer County Courthouse Museum and Bookstore was once the hub of Custer County development from 1881 to 1974. Since then, it has been preserving and displaying Custer County history through the efforts of the Custer County Historical Society with the help of many volunteers. Constructed of bricks kilned locally, the building is of Italianate design. It has been a museum since 1976. Closed during the winter months, the museum opens for the season in early May.

The BEST WESTERN U-Bar Motel is a small motel located in the small town of Canistota, just outside of Sioux Falls, in the southeastern part of South Dakota. There are three golf courses in the area, plus hunting, fishing and swimming at Lake Vermillion, and Canistota is home to the Ortman Clinic.
The Big Sky Lodge is located one mile from downtown Rapid City. It sits on Skyline Drive and offers amazing views of the Black Hills. Rooms are non-smoking and feature a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, Wi-Fi and an outside entrance. A two-room suite and a full-kitchen suite are also available. Bin 201 is a wine bar located in downtown Sioux Falls. This upscale, full-service bar specializes in wine and serves bottles of wine from all over the world. It also has a self-serve machine that allows you to sample various wines by the ounce. Bin 201 is open 3 p.m.-12 a.m., Monday through Sunday.
Your adventure awaits! Black Hills Balloons flies the southern Black Hills. Custer State Park and the Custer Valley are the heart of the flying area; just miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Crazy Horse Memorial and Wind Cave National Park. Your flight over mountains, valleys, lakes and prairies is a great way to view the area; home to elk, antelope, whitetail deer, buffalo and mule deer. Weather-permitting, flights take place daily at sunrise, May 1-October 31. Reservations required.
Black Hills Dakota Distiller, founded in April 2010, is the first legal distillery in the Black Hills area. We are a startup artisan distillery located outside of Sturgis, just northwest of Rapid City. Our goal is to produce the finest handcrafted spirits possible using South Dakota-grown ingredients. Our spirits are produced on a small batch level, which flows off our still at a rate of gallons per hour not hundreds of gallons per minute. Our hours are 2-6 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Located on the shores of Lake Mitchell, the Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village is a 1,000 year-old Native American village and the only archaeological site in South Dakota that is open to the public. Guests can watch as archaeologists uncover artifacts in the comfort of the Thomsen Center Archeodome and tour the Boehnen Memorial Museum to see the reconstructed lodge and many of the 1.5 million artifacts. Children can dig for free arrowheads and everyone can learn the art of spear-throwing.

Located in the shadow of Mount Rushmore in the historic town of Keystone, the National Presidential Wax Museum is an impressive highlight on any traveler's itinerary. Featuring the works of world-famous wax artist Katherine Stubergh, the museum displays more than 100 life-sized wax sculptures of some of the most iconic figures in American history. We are open seven days per week. From August 17-October 31, 2020, we are open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
