1881 Courthouse Museum
What is now the 1881 Custer County Courthouse Museum and Bookstore was once the hub of Custer County development from 1881 to 1974. Since then, it has been preserving and displaying Custer County history through the efforts of the Custer County Historical Society with the help of many volunteers. Constructed of bricks kilned locally, the building is of Italianate design. It has been a museum since 1976. Closed during the winter months, the museum opens for the season in early May.Al's Oasis

Black Hills Dakota Distiller, founded in April 2010, is the first legal distillery in the Black Hills area. We are a startup artisan distillery located outside of Sturgis, just northwest of Rapid City. Our goal is to produce the finest handcrafted spirits possible using South Dakota-grown ingredients. Our spirits are produced on a small batch level, which flows off our still at a rate of gallons per hour not hundreds of gallons per minute.
