Hunter's Inn is located approximately four miles northeast of Whitewood in the northern Black Hills. Our home is a five-bedroom, three-story house set on 7.5 acres. We rent out four of our five bedrooms. Three are queens and comfortably accommodate two adults. The fourth has two double beds and is a great location for the children or four adults can share. The sunrises are spectacular, the scenery of rolling hills and open fields is peaceful, and we have an unobstructed view of Bear Butte. Coffee or a drink on the front porch is a wonderful way to start or complete the day. The backyard firepit is a great gathering place with family or friends. We offer onsite astronomy and viewing of the night skies. We share our 16-inch telescope with guests when skies are clear. Breakfast is offered. We are open year-round. At Hurley Butte Horseback near Interior, we provide horseback rides on our real working ranch. We give instruction and let you ride around in the corral so that you feel comfortable on your horse before going out to the prairie. We guide you, but it is not a trail ride and you are allowed to ride to the best of your ability. We prefer scheduled rides and the price is cheaper if you schedule in advance. The Huron Visitor Center is located at 1725 Dakota Avenue S (along Highway 37). The Huron Chamber & Visitors Bureau and the Greater Huron Development Corporation are both located in this office as well. Local and state literature is available and there is a friendly face to welcome you and answer any questions you might have about the area. Visit our offices Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Huron Country Club offers a scenic and challenging nine-hole golf course. The club awaits golfers of all skill levels and is family-friendly. The public is welcome to enjoy the picturesque surroundings of the James River and the South Dakota prairie. Huset’s Speedway is a dirt oval located just outside of Brandon. The track opened in 1954 and has undergone a large renovation recently, making it a premier destination for both marquee racing events and weekly programs. It is the area's fastest 1/3-mile high-banked dirt oval track.
