Occupying nearly a full city block in Lemmon, the Petrified Wood Park & Museum is a curiosity that will pique an interest in both geology and architecture. With towers up to 20 feet tall, a castle comprised of petrified wood, and petrified dinosaur and mammoth bones, the petrified wood park will be a topic of family discussion for years to come. The park also features a gift shop that is open from Memorial Day (late May) until Labor Day (early September).
Tour the elegant 1889 Queen Anne-style home of South Dakota's first U.S. Senator, Richard Pettigrew. Take a guided tour of the historic home, or browse the museum galleries and discover the Sioux Falls of the late 1800s. The Pettigrew Home and Museum is a Siouxland Heritage Museum (along with the Old Courthouse Museum). Our summer hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 12-5 p.m., Sunday (May 1 through September 30), and our winter hours are 12-5 p.m., Monday through Sunday (October 1 through April 30). We are closed on major holidays. Admission is free.

The Pheasant Drive-In was built at it’s current location in northeastern Mobridge in 1960. Ron Maier, the current owner, has been running the Drive-In since 1976. Movies are shown May through September, with the schedule being posted on our website or Facebook page. Be sure to check out our concession stand for popcorn, soda, snow cones and candy, as well as hot dogs, nachos and homemade barbecues.

Noted for its cool, spring-fed waters, Pickerel Lake is one of the deepest natural lakes in the state. Located in northeastern South Dakota, near Grenville, the 955-acre lake bears an American Indian name meaning "where you spear long fish." Excursion boats were common until the early 1900s. A fish hatchery was built in 1929 and abandoned in 1979, when a new facility was built at Blue Dog Lake. Pickerel Lake State Recreation Area offers two campgrounds with 69 campsites and seven camping cabins, along with equipment rentals, including fishing poles, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards and lawn games. Park features include hiking trails, playgrounds, swimming beach, boat ramps, fishing pier, fish cleaning stations, and more (many of which are ADA/accessible).
The Pickstown & Fort Randall Museum is a collection of objects, artifacts and information relating to the Fort Randall and Pickstown area. They are grouped into four historical periods: 1) the establishment of Fort Randall in 1856, 2) the construction and development of the Fort Randall Dam and the town of Pickstown, beginning in 1946, 3) the life of the Pickstown school (1947-1968), and 4) the evolution of Pickstown to its present state. The museum is located in the Rainbow Room Complex in Pickstown, which includes the last three original town buildings. Museum hours are 12:30-4 p.m. on Saturday, April through October, or by appointment (call ahead).
