Our mission at Tatanka Rez Tourz is to provide an in-depth perception of the Pine Ridge Reservation and share the history, culture, and demographics of the Oglala Lakota Oyate. We will take you on a guided odyssey into the realm of Lakota (Sioux) country. You will have a clearer and deeper understanding of Lakota culture, rich in history, with views of breathtaking vistas. On Deadwood's northern edge, view a spectacular, larger-than-life bronze sculpture featuring 14 bison pursued by three Native American horseback riders - frozen in motion in a beautiful, high-prairie setting. In addition to the sculpture, Tatanka offers the Northern Plains Peoples Educational Interpretive Center, a Native American gift shop, the Sweetgrass Grill & Snack Bar, and "Dances With Wolves" movie costumes. He is a truly unique artist who utilizes a revolutionary 6 point perspective system to paint fanciful worlds on spheres known as Termespheres. Each Termesphere® is a revolving, three-dimensional optical illusion, ranging in size from 1 to 7.5 feet. Located southeast of Spearfish, the Termesphere Gallery is open year-round. Terry Peak Lodge, located near Lead in the northern Black Hills, has 17 one- and two-bedroom mini condos. Each unit has a fully-equipped kitchenette and sleeps 4-8 comfortably. Amenities include an indoor heated pool, hot tubs, sauna, BBQ grills on the sundeck, picnic tables and patio furniture, free Wi-Fi, guest computer, a fireplace in the lobby, cable TV, a convenience store and a game room with pool, ping pong, arcade games and cards. Terry Peak Ski Area is South Dakota’s premier destination for a winter vacation, featuring skiing and snowboarding. The Redlin Art Center is a gift from Terry Redlin to his hometown of Watertown. It is his way of thanking the state for a scholarship he received after a brief ride on a motorcycle resulted in a life-changing injury. Terry Redlin captures on canvas images of nature and small town America. Enjoy more than 160 original oil paintings, shop three exclusive gift shops or stroll the 30-acre Conservation Park. Our farm was homesteaded in 1879, and our kids are the 6th generation to farm these same lands. This love of the land is what drives us to implement sustainable agriculture practices. We try to do things that will insure the land is handed down through the generations, and that will provide good, wholesome food for our family and yours. You can also contact us with any question or to request a visit to the farm, which is located about 20 minutes west of Sioux Falls on Highway 19.
