Hinterwood Inn & Cabins is nestled in a quiet valley in the Black Hills near Keystone and is centrally located to all the nearby attractions, including a 7.3 mile drive to Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The Hinterwood property encompasses nearly 20 acres of a peaceful valley bordered by Black Hills National Forest to the north and east. Guests can walk right out their front door for a beautiful hike on public lands. There are four separate vacation rentals in the inn and four stand-alone cabins. All rentals are either newly built or newly renovated since the property was purchased in 2017. The owner, Callee Ackland, is a U.S. Navy veteran and the owner of two earth conscious companies. The Rapid City shop is run by a team of women, with more than 70% of the products offered being handmade by women. We sell eco-friendly products - vegan, cruelty-free, nontoxic, and plastic-free - to help you reduce your trash and your impact on the planet, as well as a BYOC (bring your own container) refill section for beauty and cleaning products, plus ingredients to DIY your own cosmetic recipes. The meticulously-restored 1892 Victorian mansion, with original contents intact, features the stories of two of Deadwood's founding families. The mansion’s summer hours are Monday through Sunday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (see website for off-season hours). Deadwood, a National Historic Landmark, once drew legions in search of their fortune. Characters like Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane made this town legendary. Today you can watch shootouts on Main Street, re-enactments of the slaying of Wild Bill Hickok, and the trial of his murderer. Behind the history is plenty of modern-day fun like 24/7 gaming, day spas, fine dining, shopping, resort hotels, outdoor adventures and more. The famous and infamous have left their marks here, and you can too. The Deadwood Welcome Center provides visitors with information on local attractions and points of interest along with exhibits that highlight things to do in Deadwood and the northern Black Hills. The staff of the Welcome Center can assist visitors in planning their Deadwood experience. The Deadwood Chamber of Commerce offices are also located within the building. The information desk is open daily year-round, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The restrooms and trolley waiting room are open daily year-round during trolley hours of operation. In 1914, this 24,000-square-foot building was built by the Homestake Gold Mine for their workers and families. It was given to the City of Lead in 1972. Unfortunately, the theater was nearly destroyed by fire in 1984. Restoration work continues alongside performing arts events. Concerts, movies, theatre, dance and weddings are hosted year-round. Tours are available Tuesday-Saturday (12 p.m. and 2 p.m.) and run 30-45 minutes. Call or join us at the front courtyard theater entrance at tour time.Historic Log Cabin Motel
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the cabins were built in the late 1920s. With a variety of floor plans, the Historic Log Cabins include 1-4 beds and some have kitchenettes. All cabins include a bath and/or shower, towels/linens/bedding, free Wi-Fi, continental breakfast (May 1-September 15), cable TV, and air conditioning. Enjoy views from three decks with seating areas as well as fire pits and grills. You can see Battle Mountain, Seven Sisters, and the city of Hot Springs.The Hitch Rail Bar and Restaurant
