The Big Sky Lodge is located one mile from downtown Rapid City. It sits on Skyline Drive and offers amazing views of the Black Hills. Rooms are non-smoking and feature a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, Wi-Fi and an outside entrance. A two-room suite and a full-kitchen suite are also available. Amenities include laundry facilities and a seasonal outdoor hot tub. Complimentary continental breakfast is available from the end of May through the end of September. The property is pet-friendly.
An 1823 expedition led by Major Stephan Long and geologist William Keating explored the Big Stone Lake region. Shortly after entering present-day South Dakota, they met an American Indian village on a rocky island (Big Island). This island, also known as Kite Island, is now the 100-acre nature area. It is a natural refuge for a variety of birds and wildlife, and is accessible only by boat, canoe or kayak.
At Big Stone Pumpkin Patch near Big Stone City, we offer pick-your-own pumpkins, plus pre-picked pumpkins of all sizes, gourds, specialty pumpkins, Indian Corn, straw bales and corn shocks. We also have hayrides, a corn maze, a jumping pillow, a corn dig, climbing bales and barrel train rides. Our barn is available for weddings and private events. The Pumpkin Patch is open late September through October, and our hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Big Thunder Gold Mine (originally named Gold Hill Lode) was discovered in 1892 by two German immigrant miners. Today, it contains the most types of rocks, structures and minerals indigenous to the area, and it offers mine tours, a mining museum and gold panning. There is also a full-service eatery and a gift shop. Located in Keystone, we are open daily, April through October (see our hours online). We are open by reservation only, November through March.
Located in Hot Springs, the Big Time Pizza and Coffee Hub menu features excellent pizza and subs at reasonable prices. Owners Robert and Mary Davis say their secret is that they only use the finest ingredients in their pizzas and subs and everything is handmade to order. I’m not sure exactly when we decided we wanted a campground, but it all started with trying to figure out what to do with two, small, unused grain bins on the ranch. With the help of a carpenter and mentor, we went to work building our Bin Cabin, using recycled items where possible, and the Bin 2 Quinn Campground was born. Located six miles from Wall and not much further from Badlands National Park, the area offers fishing, kayaking, watching beautiful South Dakota sunsets, and amazing stargazing. Our campground is open May 15 through October 30. Options and amenities include RV camping, tent camping, the Grain Bin Cabin, horse corrals, hiking trails, pet area, horseshoes, corn hole, and a Binzebo with propane fire pit. Bin 201 is a wine bar located in downtown Sioux Falls. This upscale, full-service bar specializes in wine and serves bottles of wine from all over the world. It also has a self-serve machine that allows you to sample various wines by the ounce. Bin 201 is open 3 p.m.-12 a.m., Monday through Sunday.
