Located in Memorial Park near downtown Rapid City, the Black Hills Veterans Memorial/Black Hills War Monument is highlighted by six magnificent granite walls with engraved names of almost 700 Black Hills military who died in wars from 1918 to the present. In addition, the memorial includes the six military service flags from each branch, as well as the POW/MIA flag, the State of South Dakota flag and the United States flag. The theme NEVER FORGET is written on the bottom of each Wall of Honor and there is night lighting to ensure 24 hour viewing by interested citizens. An embedded QR code in each wall allows viewers to be linked to the website, where the military legacies and histories of each fallen member can be viewed.Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary
Founded in 1988 by Dayton O. Hyde, the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary is one of America's greatest private wilderness areas. Located near Hot Springs in southwestern South Dakota, it is owned and operated by the Institute of Range and the American Mustang and is dedicated to giving America's unwanted wild horses a life of freedom. There are hundreds of wild mustangs roaming free across 11,000 acres of wind-swept prairie. Starting in May, our Gift Shop is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday. There are horses along the way and around the Gift Shop. Only a select few visitors can go out to see the horses by reservation only. The visits are with a guide in a SUV or van, with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 people for three hours. The fee is $350 per person plus tax. The availability is weather dependent and is only Monday through Friday (with mornings being the best time to view the herds).Black Hills Wilderness Edge Adventures

Anglers enjoy the West Pollock Recreation Area as a prime location to stay when fishing for walleyes and an abundance of other Lake Oahe fish, including smallmouth bass, white bass, northern pike and perch. The boat ramp provides easy access to the water. In the fall, pheasant, grouse and waterfowl hunters come to camp.
