A popular campsite for the Arikara and Mandan people in the past, West Whitlock now draws modern-day campers and fishermen to its shores. When the area became a park, it was named for Mrs. J.F. Whitlock, whose pioneering family once owned the land. Whitlock Crossing was the name given to a small settlement that operated a ferry across the river near the area.
Whatnots, Books and Etc is a licensed used books store located in Miller with an inventory of more than 50,000 books and magazines. I also have paper items and collectibles. The book store was started in 1973 as The Bookshelf and has been a family-owned business. In 2000, it was renamed Whatnots, Books and Etc. We specialize in South Dakota books, but also have books in just about every subject field. My website has all my South Dakota books listed. My store is open by chance or appointment.

Whistler Gulch Campground is located in Historic Deadwood. This full-service campground is located just minutes from Main Street and the Deadwood Trolley picks up at the lodge front door. There are spaces for campers of all sizes. Tent sites are secluded and set into the hillside for shade. Camping cabins are also available and so is a six-person condo. Amenities include a heated outdoor pool, shower house, grills, laundry, picnic tables, and a convenience store. It is a pet-friendly property.
The White River Drive-In is a burger restaurant in White River that serves much more than burgers. Steak, chicken or shrimp dinners are on the menu, as well as chicken and fish sandwiches, hot dogs, Indian Tacos, tasty sides, and ice cream desserts. We are open seven days per week and our hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
