Wind Cave National Park
The first cave to be designated a national park, Wind Cave features the world's largest concentration of rare boxwork formations below ground and a 33,970-acre wildlife sanctuary on the surface. The cave is one of the longest and most complex caves in the world. Located in the southern Black Hills near Hot Springs, the park is home to bison, elk, and other wildlife that roam the rolling prairie grasslands and forested hillsides. Activities include hiking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, backcountry camping, Junior Ranger programs, and cave tours. This milestone celebration will mark the 35 years since the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act—a pivotal moment in securing rights and protections for people with disabilities. The festival will feature an evening of celebration with interactive booths, engaging activities, vendors, food trucks, and more. It will culminate in memorable performances by talented artists with disabilities and a special Proclamation from Mayor Paul TenHaken. The ADA Festival honors the shared connections we all have with the disability community, fosters greater understanding, and envisions a future enriched by diverse perspectives and abilities. Held at the Deadwood Mountain Grand Events Center, this premiere event showcases 17 classes of one-of-a-kind bikes designed by the most skilled, creative, and influential custom-builders in the motorcycle world. Running from 12-8 p.m., the day includes a motorcycle show & contest with cash and prizes, celebrity judges, vendor booths, photo ops, kids activities, and live music. The Dakota Angler Ice Institute was started in 2008 to give ice fishermen an opportunity to see the latest and greatest in the ice fishing industry and to learn from the experts how to use the equipment. Throughout the years, the Ice Institute has a had a number of professors share their knowledge. A few of those have included the "Godfather" of ice fishing - Dave Genz, Jason Mitchell, Chip Leer, Brad Hawthorne, Dennis Kassube, Brian Brosdahl, and many, many more. You'll be able to see all the latest and greatest in the ice fishing world, including portable and permanent ice shacks, augers, electronics, as well as plenty of jigs and lures. Danish Days in Viborg has a long and rich history dating back to Viborg’s earliest days. Originally celebrated on June 5th to coincide with Denmark’s independence day, the celebration has been moved to the third weekend in July. Although the dates have changed, the spirit has remained the same. We still host many of the same events that our founding fathers did such as a parade, community worship service, ball tournaments, dances, and ethnic food.
