Join us for the annual Mitakuye Owas’in * All My Relatives * Mitákuye Oyás’in Festival at Levitt at the Falls near downtown Sioux Falls. This celebration of Native American music, art, and culture begins at 10 a.m. and offers a full day of performances, activities, and creative experiences. Highlights include Levitt Concert Performances throughout the day (including a special morning show for youth and families and an evening performance), featured speakers and comedians offering engaging and inspiring presentations, visual arts activities and an Emerging Artist Showcase, a vendor fair, a fashion show featuring three featured designers and three emerging designers, and interactive children’s activities. More than two dozen of the top cowboys in the nation will be matched up against some of the best bucking stock in the Midwest at the Annual Casey Tibbs Match of Champions. Bronc riding, steak fry and entertainment will be held at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierre. Gate opens at 4 p.m., there is a steak fry at 5 p.m., the Long Round Calcutta starts at 6 p.m., and the Match of Champions starts at 7 p.m. Advance tickets will be sold at the Casey Tibbs Rodeo Center and online.Annual Twin Brooks Threshing Show
Events at the annual Twin Brooks Threshing Show include quilting, lead pouring, blacksmithing, sanctioned Kids Pedal Pull, tractor pull, threshing and baling, as well as horse demonstrations, saw mill demonstrations, log cabin, school house, flea market, homemade food and music. There are parades both days, 1 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Cockshutt Farm Equipment is featured in 2025, our 39th annual show. Archeology Awareness Day is a fun-filled event showcasing technologies used by the original inhabitants of the Village, including flint knapping, atlatl throwing and other on-site demonstrations. Attendees can meet with Native American cultural presenters as well as archaeologists who are engaged in the archaeological excavation, and discuss archaeological techniques, discoveries and artifacts at the Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village in Mitchell. Hosted by Deadwood Custom Cycles, the Black Hills Motorcycle Show features custom-built bikes and industry leaders like Paul Yaffee, Klock Werks, Feuling Parts, Hofmann Designs, Bikers Against Bullies and more. Held at the Deadwood Mountain Grand Events Center, this premiere event showcases 17 classes of one-of-a-kind bikes designed by the most skilled, creative, and influential custom-builders in the motorcycle world. Running from 12-8 p.m., the day includes a motorcycle show & contest with cash and prizes, celebrity judges, vendor booths, photo ops, kids activities, and live music. Food, beverages and gaming are available on-site. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Sacred Mountain Retreat Center.Black Hills Plein Air Paint-Out
The Black Hills Plein Air Paint-Out gathers artists in western South Dakota to paint the beautiful Black Hills in late September. The area offers rolling green hills, thick green forests, prairie, lakes, creeks, and wildlife. Hill City and Custer State Park both have a myriad of awe inspiring painting options, and a quick drive will take you to two historic monuments: Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Crazy Horse Memorial. This event includes daily plein air painting, homework displayed for sale in a gallery, Artists meet and greet, wet sale, Sponsors and Artists reception, and a Quick Draw Competition and Auction. The Black Hills Renaissance Festival, held at Recreational Springs Resort near Lead, will take you on a magical tour through time and legend. Enjoy music, Renaissance-themed entertainment and games. Discover exquisite items in the village shoppes and marvel at the artisan demonstrations. Feast on food and drink fit for royalty including local mead, ale and wine. Hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday. See our website for information about single-day and weekend passes and a link to purchase. A free shuttle service will be provided. Parking and shuttle pick-up is at 160 W Main Street in Lead (Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center). First held in 1971, Lemmon's Boss Cowman Rodeo & Celebration is an annual, community-wide event. Highlights include rodeo performances Friday and Saturday nights, a parade Saturday morning, and a car show Saturday afternoon, along with kids games, inflatables, a farmers market, water balloon fight, art show, cornhole tournament, softball tournament and more. Beer drinkers, this is your opportunity to pair two of the best things in life – shopping and drinking. The Brew Walk consists exploring ten downtown business stops on Main Street and includes craft beer samples from both regional and South Dakota-local breweries.
