Northern Fort Playhouse

The Northern Fort Playhouse is a summer repertory stock company that delights regional audiences with performances in the historic south barracks building of Fort Sisseton Historic State Park, southwest of Lake City. Northern State University students lend their talents to every production. Two shows will be performed during the 2025 season: Vanities a New Musical and You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Performance dates are July 11-13, 18-20 and 25-26. All of our Friday evening performances feature a free will donation social hour. There are dinner theatre performances and Sunday luncheon performances. State park entrance license fee is covered by Northern Fort Playhouse. See our website for ticket prices and more information.

Not Just A "Phase" Fest

Get ready to make some mEMOries at The Birdcage in Sioux Falls. Leave the kiddos at home - this event is strictly 21+ - and get ready to experience a night out rockin' it with your favorite artists. The music lineup includes Hoobastank, Taking Back Sunday, Bowling For Soup, the Plain White T's, The Ataris, and Hawthorne Heights. There will also be beer, cocktail and wine bars; craft food and retail vendors; a throwback video game lounge; art installations; photo ops; and more. Oahe Days Arts & Music Festival

We welcome you to join us for this fun community event along the Missouri River in Pierre. The Oahe Days Music & Arts Festival takes place over a Friday and Saturday in June, usually the third weekend. There will be arts and crafts and other vendors, as well as a variety of food, drink and music. Activities include carnival rides, inflatables and more. Oahe Days is fun for the whole family.

Oktoberfest

Join us as we celebrate Oktoberfest in the Wild West. Come to Historic Deadwood and enjoy live German music, a poker run, free food and dancing. Bring the whole family and join us for the now famous Wiener Dog Races and Beer Barrel Games. Activities start at noon on Friday and run until 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Outlaw Square Monday Movie Night

This summer, head to Deadwood's Outlaw Square for free Monday Movie Nights. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, take out food, friends and family, and enjoy a fun evening at Outlaw Square. Starting night is May 26 and the last night is August 31. There is a special showing of The Sand Lot on Friday, July 4. There is is movie on Monday, August 4 (during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally) and the last night is a Sunday. See the full schedule of dates and movies on our website. The City of Deadwood has provided free parking 6-10 p.m. on Monday nights in all of the cities paid parking spots (except the parking ramp)..

Riverfest

Bring your friends, bring your kids, bring everyone to Riverfest in Belle Fourche. Join us in this small town local event for a fun time. There will be duck races by the Shriners, the Battle of the Bones BBQ Contest (1 p.m.), a free Kid zone, a disc golf tournament, vendors, food trucks, and more. Head to the Center of the Nation Monument/Tri-State Museum from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. to celebrate the history of Belle Fourche and kick off summer.

Rock The Country

The Rock The Country music festival - A Festival For We The People - will be coming to Sioux Falls, July 18-19, as the major country festival makes its official road trip across America. Sioux Falls will mark the eighth stop of summer 2025. We bring together the best of both worlds in uniting the country legend, Kid Rock, and the ultimate rockstars, Nickelback. With the country and rock genres joining forces, Rock The Country will be rocking the country all summer long. The lineup for Sioux Falls will feature powerhouse artists, including country legends Travis Tritt and Tracy Lawrence, Gavin Adcock, Aaron Lewis and The Stateliners, Shenandoah, Mark Chesnutt, Deana Carter, Little Texas, Hudson Westbrook, Them Dirty Roses, Afroman, and the Ying Yang Twins. Lyon Fairgrounds and can be reserved on the festival website, too.

Run with the Govs

Run with the Govs is an annual 3.5-mile charity race that winds through the heart of South Dakota's capital city. The route throughout Pierre features 31 life sized bronze statues honoring the state's former governors. Soak
up the history and savor the art as you join runners and walkers along the
Trail of Governors from South Dakota’s stunning Capitol through downtown
Pierre, along the Missouri River and on the award-winning Capitol grounds. Participants of all ages are welcome, including kids in strollers and dogs on leashes. All registered runners/walkers are guaranteed a t-shirt if registered by the deadline. Awards will be given for the overall male and female winners and top male and female, ages 12 and under. Start time is 8:30 a.m. and registration is $25.

Silver City Social

The annual Silver City Social includes a Pie and Ice Cream Social with Sloppy Joes, a Volksmarch (the second-largest sanctioned march in the Black Hills), and a raffle. It takes place at the Silver City Historical Schoolhouse near Pactola Lake. (From SD Highway 44, turn north 1.5 miles on US Highway 385, then take a left on Silver City Road and go five miles to the schoolhouse.) Proceeds support the Silver City Volunteer Fire Department and Silver City Historical Society. All are welcome.
