Prairie Village Hobo Marlin Pumpkin Train

Head to Prairie Village west of Madison for Hobo Marlin's Pumpkin Train. Ride the train to the Pumpkin Patch where children (ages 12 and under) can pick a pumpkin from the patch. The event runs 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. and also includes donuts, cider and games. Admission is $5 per child (ages 12 and under) and $2 per adult/teen. Proceeds benefit the Prairie Village Herman & Milwaukee Railroad. (Prairie Village season passes not accepted.) Also included is the SoDak Vendor Showcase featuring a variety of South Dakota vendors on site.

Riverfest

Bring your friends, bring your kids, bring everyone to Riverfest in Belle Fourche. Join us in this small town local event for a fun time. There will be duck races by the Shriners, the Battle of the Bones BBQ Contest (1 p.m.), a free Kid zone, a disc golf tournament, vendors, food trucks, and more. Head to the Center of the Nation Monument/Tri-State Museum from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. to celebrate the history of Belle Fourche and kick off summer.

Rock The Country

The Rock The Country music festival - A Festival For We The People - will be coming to Sioux Falls, July 18-19, as the major country festival makes its official road trip across America. Sioux Falls will mark the eighth stop of summer 2025. We bring together the best of both worlds in uniting the country legend, Kid Rock, and the ultimate rockstars, Nickelback. With the country and rock genres joining forces, Rock The Country will be rocking the country all summer long. The lineup for Sioux Falls will feature powerhouse artists, including country legends Travis Tritt and Tracy Lawrence, Gavin Adcock, Aaron Lewis and The Stateliners, Shenandoah, Mark Chesnutt, Deana Carter, Little Texas, Hudson Westbrook, Them Dirty Roses, Afroman, and the Ying Yang Twins. See our website for the Friday lineup and the Saturday lineup, as well as access to buy weekend and single-day passes. Camping is available on the grounds of the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds and can be reserved on the festival website, too.

Run with the Govs

Run with the Govs is an annual 3.5-mile charity race that winds through the heart of South Dakota's capital city. The route throughout Pierre features 31 life sized bronze statues honoring the state's former governors. Soak
up the history and savor the art as you join runners and walkers along the
Trail of Governors from South Dakota’s stunning Capitol through downtown
Pierre, along the Missouri River and on the award-winning Capitol grounds. Participants of all ages are welcome, including kids in strollers and dogs on leashes. All registered runners/walkers are guaranteed a t-shirt if registered by the deadline. Awards will be given for the overall male and female winners and top male and female, ages 12 and under. Start time is 8:30 a.m. and registration is $25.

Silver City Social

The annual Silver City Social includes a Pie and Ice Cream Social with Sloppy Joes, a Volksmarch (the second-largest sanctioned march in the Black Hills), and a raffle. It takes place at the Silver City Historical Schoolhouse near Pactola Lake. (From SD Highway 44, turn north 1.5 miles on US Highway 385, then take a left on Silver City Road and go five miles to the schoolhouse.) Proceeds support the Silver City Volunteer Fire Department and Silver City Historical Society. All are welcome.

Sioux Falls Canaries Home Season

The legacy of professional baseball in Sioux Falls dates back to 1902. The current Sioux Falls Canaries team, as it is known today, began playing in 1993 and has been a staple of entertainment for families and baseball fans alike. Since their inception, the Canaries have made their home at The Birdcage. This historic ballpark combines the classic charm of its original design with modern updates, including renovations in the late 1990s and a more recent upgrade in 2022. The Canaries' 2025 home game season runs May 13 through September 1. The full schedule can be found online, and tickets may be purchased online or at the gate. Sioux Falls Festival of Cultures

Enjoy sights, sounds and tastes from around the world as we bring all cultures together for a fun day of celebration during the annual Festival of Cultures. The event takes place 10:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. at Levitt at the Falls north of downtown Sioux Falls. This is a great, free, family-friendly event you won't want to miss. There will be live entertainment, food trucks, crafts and kids activities. The festivities will continue through the evening and include live music beginning at 7 p.m. on the Levitt stage, followed by the parade of flags and a grand finale performance.

Sioux Falls Marathon & Half Marathon

The Sioux Falls Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and Miracle 5K on a Sunday in September. Join runners from across the nation on a journey through Downtown Sioux Falls and Falls Park, along one of the nation's finest bike trails, and through the historic district. The Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K start and finish inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The Miracle 5K finishes inside the PREMIER Center, but starts outside on Western Avenue. There will be entertainment along the race route and lots of spectators cheering on the runners.

Sizzlin' Summer Nights

We will be heating up Aberdeen's Main Street for this year's Sizzlin' Summer Nights Car & Bike Show. There will be a beer garden and outdoor concert and the Car Show runs 4-8 p.m. Awards are handed out for Best in Show and People's Choice.
