The Rock The Country music festival - A Festival For We The People - will be coming to Sioux Falls, July 18-19, as the major country festival makes its official road trip across America. Sioux Falls will mark the eighth stop of summer 2025. We bring together the best of both worlds in uniting the country legend, Kid Rock, and the ultimate rockstars, Nickelback. With the country and rock genres joining forces, Rock The Country will be rocking the country all summer long. The lineup for Sioux Falls will feature powerhouse artists, including country legends Travis Tritt and Tracy Lawrence, Gavin Adcock, Aaron Lewis and The Stateliners, Shenandoah, Mark Chesnutt, Deana Carter, Little Texas, Hudson Westbrook, Them Dirty Roses, Afroman, and the Ying Yang Twins. These free Saturday night concerts are held at the Centennial Park (except for July 5 which will be at the Mueller Center). Performances will begin at 6 p.m. and will last roughly until 9 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and plan to spend a fun evening listening to some great music. Pierre, along the Missouri River and on the award-winning Capitol grounds. Participants of all ages are welcome, including kids in strollers and dogs on leashes. All registered runners/walkers are guaranteed a t-shirt if registered by the deadline. Awards will be given for the overall male and female winners and top male and female, ages 12 and under. Start time is 8:30 a.m. and registration is $25.
Sanford Lab Neutrino Day
More than 50 years ago, Dr. Ray Davis began building his Solar Neutrino Experiment nearly a mile underground at Homestake Mine in Lead. Join us as we celebrate this historic moment in history at Sanford Underground Research Facility’s free science festival and biggest event of the year, Neutrino Day. Join us for hoist room and garden tours, science activities and exhibits for all ages, live video chats with scientists underground, and engaging talks about the research happening beneath your feet. Events take place at the SURF Education & Outreach Building, the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center, Historic Homestake Opera House and the Handley Recreation Center. The annual Silver City Social includes a Pie and Ice Cream Social with Sloppy Joes, a Volksmarch (the second-largest sanctioned march in the Black Hills), and a raffle. It takes place at the Silver City Historical Schoolhouse near Pactola Lake. (From SD Highway 44, turn north 1.5 miles on US Highway 385, then take a left on Silver City Road and go five miles to the schoolhouse.) Proceeds support the Silver City Volunteer Fire Department and Silver City Historical Society. All are welcome.Pagination
