The Sioux Falls Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and Miracle 5K on a Sunday in September. Join runners from across the nation on a journey through Downtown Sioux Falls and Falls Park, along one of the nation's finest bike trails, and through the historic district. The Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K start and finish inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The Miracle 5K finishes inside the PREMIER Center, but starts outside on Western Avenue. There will be entertainment along the race route and lots of spectators cheering on the runners.
We will be heating up Aberdeen's Main Street for this year's Sizzlin' Summer Nights Car & Bike Show. There will be a beer garden and outdoor concert and the Car Show runs 4-8 p.m. Awards are handed out for Best in Show and People's Choice.
The annual Festival of Books is South Dakota's premier literary event. It is held each year in the fall, alternating between eastern locations and western locations. The festival celebrates reading, writing and the humanities with locally-known and nationally-recognized authors. The 2025 event - the 23rd anniversary - is set to take place in Spearfish. (Currently, the 2026 event will take place in Brookings.)
The annual White River Frontier Days features an SDRA-, NRCA-, MSRA- and NSRA-sanctioned rodeo. Rodeo performances are both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon at the White River Rodeo Grounds. There is also a parade Saturday morning and a dance Saturday night following the rodeo. Admission is $12 for adults & high school-aged children, $5 for grade schoolers, and free for ages 6 & younger. This festival features informal performances at various locations around Deadwood, writers rounds, and Grand Jam sessions. Get your “yee’s” and your “haw’s” ready for the annual Wild West Wednesdays Rodeo series on the grounds of Hart Ranch Camping Resort just south of Rapid City. Building upon our western heritage, that John Harrison Hart started so long ago, we’re pleased to offer action-packed, world-class rodeos at Hart Ranch. Join us every Wednesday night, June 25-August 13, 2025. Watch cowboys take on events like Saddle Bronc, Bareback, and Bull Riding and cowgirls show off their speed on the Barrels. Come early for some pre-rodeo treats, food trucks, beer garden and live entertainment, all starting at 5 p.m. The rodeo action starts at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online. Seating may be limited. Bringing your own lawn chairs is encouraged.
Head to Lead in the northern Black Hills for Winterfest, an annual three-day snowbash. The weekend is jam-packed with events and activities for all ages. Events held throughout the city include fireworks, VIP party, parade of lights, bonfire of Christmas trees, snowshoeing, Mile High Songwriter Showcase, and much more. An annual community festival held in Riverside Park and around town celebrating Yankton, the Missouri River and the arts. The three-day event includes an arts and crafts show with many vendors set-up in the park, lots food booths, a large beer garden, live music at all times of the day, kids entertainment, fireworks, carnival, quilt show, concerts and more. Riverboat Days is held in conjunction with the Summer Arts Festival.
The annual Black Hills Film Festival will be held in Rapid City at The Journey Museum. In addition to screening great Independent Films, the Festival also features seminars and workshops with industry experts and great parties with celebrity guests. Head to the Spearfish City Park for the annual summer Canyon Acoustic Series in Spearfish. Held on Wednesday nights in June and July, the series features free music, local food trucks, and more. The fun starts at 6 p.m. and lasts until 8:30 p.m. The 2025 dates are June 11, 18 and 25, and July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.
