Cruise over to Mitchell for an evening jam-packed with excitement for the whole family. The free Palace City Pre-Sturgis Party will take place on Mitchell’s Main Street from 5-10 p.m. on the Thursday prior to the start of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Community members and motorcyclists from across the nation are invited to a night of fun with food vendors, stunt shows and live music. Vendors and a beverage garden will be available from 5-10 p.m.
Opening day of the pheasant hunting season in South Dakota is the third Saturday of October. The season then lasts through January 31 of the following year. Shooting hours are 10 a.m. (Central Time) to sunset for the entire season. (Central Time is used for opening shooting hours statewide.) Hunting licenses are required for both resident and non-resident hunters, including youth.
The Pine Island Gravel Odyssey (formerly Gold Rush Gravel Grinder) will be held on a Saturday in June in and around Spearfish. There are options for 45-mile e-bike, 65-mile, 100-mile and 210-mile gravel road bicycle races/rides/tours through the Black Hills. We look forward to another great season of grinding gravel.

Taking place about 25 miles west of Sioux Falls along Interstate 90, the Porterchela Music & Art Walk Festival's hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Festival admission is free and you're encouraged to bring your own lawn chair. The greatest show on snow returns to Deadwood as the ISOC Amsoil Championship Snocross Series hits the Black Hills for the annual Deadwood Pro Snocross Races. More than 200 of the top professional Snocross racers will descend on the historic town's Days of '76 Rodeo Grounds for a weekend of high-flying, high-speed, high-octane snowmobile racing. Races start at 12:50 p.m. on Friday and at 8:25 a.m. on Saturday.
The quarrying of red quartzite in Dell Rapids goes back more than 120 years. In 1987, the community began this annual summer festival in celebration of that history. Head to Dell Rapids in June for three days of fun. Enjoy family entertainment, a parade, 5k and 1 Mile walk or run, craft and food vendors in the park, car show, an ice cream social, a kayak race, street dance, a fishing derby, fireworks and more. Vermillion’s Ribs, Rods & Rock n’ Roll knows how to host a barbeque. Enjoy a KCBS sponsored BBQ cookoff, with approximately 30 teams from across the Midwest, as well as many local teams. Ride Across South Dakota (RASDAK) is an annual bicycle ride to enjoy the beautiful scenery and hospitality of South Dakota, the “Land of Infinite Variety.” Route and registration details are available on our website when they are finalized. The Run Crazy Horse Half Marathon is a point-to-point course beginning at the Visitors Center at Crazy Horse Memorial. The first three miles are within the Memorial grounds on both paved and gravel roads. At mile 3, the course becomes the Mickelson Trail. For the Half Marathoners, the last 10 miles are a mixture of downhill and flat terrain. Miles 3-16 of the Full Marathon will be an out and back mainly on the Mickelson Trail. Outside of Crazy Horse Memorial, marathoner runners will turn south on the Mickelson Trail to the turnaround in Custer. At Mile 16, it will be downhill back into Hill City to finish on Main Street. The five-person Marathon Relay will follow the same course as the Full Marathon. The relay exchange points will be between 5-7 miles apart. Other races include a fast 5K and a kids 1K. Held at the Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls, the Sanford International is an official PGA TOUR Champions event. The field typically features 80+ professionals and is a 54-Hole Stroke Play event. There is a pro-am event open to the public on Thursday. The first round of the Sanford International is on Friday, the second round is on Saturday and the final round and trophy presentation is on Sunday.
