Levitt at the Falls 2025: The Ocean Blue
Getting their start as teenagers in the late 80s, The Ocean Blue quickly made their mark. Early success set in motion a run of four successful major label albums followed by a string of beloved independent releases. On Friday, August 29, The Ocean Blue brings their exciting performance to the Levitt stage in Sioux Falls. This free concert is one of 50 being held at the state-of-the-art Levitt Shell in Falls Park West. During 2025, the free concerts run May 23 through August 30, usually on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Levitt at the Falls has open, raked-lawn seating (on a first-come, first-served basis). Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome. The lawn opens at 6:30 p.m. (food trucks/drink vendors also open) and music starts at 7 p.m.Levitt at the Falls 2025: US Navy Band Horizon
Horizon is a high-energy group of Navy musicians that travels extensively throughout the Midwest region, entertaining audiences of all ages. Led by Musician Second Class Damien Emilien, this group of seven active duty sailors performs a wide variety of musical styles including rock, pop, R&B, country, funk, and jazz. The replica is patterned after the original Dakota Territorial Capitol built in 1862 and torn down in 1886. Yankton was the first capitol of the Dakota Territory from 1861-1883. Displays include photos of old Yankton, maps of the Dakota Territory, a gallery of former Territorial governors, a tribute to the local St. John’s Masonic Lodge, and a quilt highlighting Yankton landmarks. The Mead Museum in Yankton is the home of the Dakota Territorial Museum and Yankton County Historical Society. Our collections highlight Dakota Territory, Yankton, Yankton County, and Missouri River Valley history. New exhibits will be added to the museum yearly. The Children’s Transportation Museum is the first of its kind in the region. Our summer (late May through early September) hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 1-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Opened publicly in 1929, the Petrified Forest of the Black Hills is one of the largest out-croppings of fossilized petrified wood in the area. Located next to Elk Creek Resort, the Petrified Forest offers a one hour tour starting with a 15 minute video which takes you through some of the history of the Black Hills, as well as an explanation of the petrification process. The tour continues through our museum which houses petrified wood along with rocks and fossils. Then take a hike through the Petrified Forest and experience the knowledge gained from the video and museum. You will finish at the Gallery of Stone rock shop and have access to many types of petrified wood and other beautiful creations. We are open April to November, weather permitting. Our hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for the walking tour, only, and 2-5 p.m. for the full park.Pagination
