Top Things to Do in Aberdeen

Fairy tales come to life at Storybook Land and the Land of Oz, a whimsical (and free!) playland inhabited by Humpty Dumpty, Goldilocks and characters from “The Wizard of Oz” — whose creator, L. Frank Baum, resided in Aberdeen. Surrounding Wylie Park offers 210 acres of fun, including camping, swimming, go-karts, mini-golf, paddleboats and scenic trails. Open year-round, Wylie Park is a destination in itself.

For a unique summer experience, see the amazing Aberdeen Aqua Addicts in action. Watch these skilled skiers as they perform tricks, jumps and even form pyramids in this fantastic ski show. Looking to dive into local history and culture? Explore artifacts and exhibits at the Dacotah Prairie Museum, peruse art displays at the Aberdeen Recreation & Cultural Center Gallery, and take in a show at the Johnson Fine Arts Center on the Northern State University campus. A former vaudeville house built in 1926, the Capitol Theatre & Cinema offers film screenings and community theater performances throughout the year.
